Does anyone else find it ironic that Stern has his usual Friday off for "Revolution Day"? That's some revolution

The History of Howard Stern Part II (Week One)
I'd be a bit remiss if I didn't mention the first week of the History of Howard Stern Part II. It was good overall, but not as good as part 1. It seemed to jump around a bit too much and I'd have loved to have heard more bits and more celebrity interviews. It's great to hear Howard when he actually had competition. He had a fire that he hasn't seemed to have since he came to Sirius XM. I've been very disappointed with the Stern show and it's downhill slide lately. Howard seems to be a shell of the man he was when he was on Terrestrial and the first year at Sirius. I'll be honest, if he did decide to go ahead and retire at the end of his current contract, it wouldn't bother me a bit. The show just hasn't been very good. We need another roast and we need more guests in. Howard is still a great interviewer and brings out the best in most people. He really humanizes celebrity guests and we need more of that. I hope the Stern show in 2009 is better than 2008, but I'm not holding my breath.

The History Of Howard Stern Part 2
Finally something good to listen to on Howard 100 again. Part 2 will cover from 1985-1990 and runs a total of around 48 hours supposedly. I loved the first part and I'm sure this one will be just as good. It begins Monday at 6am.

Howard Stern done at the end of his contract?
As far as I'm concerned he's been done for a while. The show has gone way down hill lately and I find myself changing the channel alot more than I ever did before. I'm hoping the History of Howard Stern Part 2 restarts my choice for all things Howard, but we'll just have to see. I've been listening to alot more Opie and Anthony live and listening to Howard on the replay.

Artie Lange's Interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air
Artie's interview with Terry Gross on Fresh Air Yesterday was fantastic. She probed into all his demons and his childhood and his life. Artie got some zingers in as did Terry. The interview is available on ITunes via the Fresh Air Podcast and I'd strongly suggest everyone listen to it. It was probably one of the best Fresh Air programs in recent history.

Back into the swing of things
It's nice to see Kidd Chris is still blogging. I hope the layoff is over soon. I listened to the Best of Shows from last year and they're still as funny as ever. On the right is a link to the Kidd Chris Blog, feel free to click and check it out.
Let's go Rays. It's been nice to see the Rays do as well as they have and I'm hoping they can take down the mighty Red Sox soon. I'd love to see the small market team with one of the lower payrolls in MLB not only make the World Series but win it as well.
FIFA is out tomorrow and I cannot wait. I'll try and return West Ham United, Celtic, Lyon, and Borussia Dortmund to the top of their tables (at least virtually). I'll be skipping PES this year as it doesn't look to be as improved as it should be. The master league is tired and the "be a pro" type feature looks to be lacking as well. To me it makes no difference if full editing is back since the shitty master league mode is back.
Congrats to Howard Stern and congrats to Beth Stern as well. The two got married and I forgot to blog about it. It's good to hear the show back on the air this week as well live instead of best of programming.

Artie Roast
Yesterday I listened to the Artie roast again. The Artie roast is
still the best show that Howard has done on Sirius. The new XM
listeners had the pleasure of hearing the best show on Sirius yet. I
hope we hear some new roasts soon. I'd love to hear Sal roasted soon

XM's Best of Sirius
To all the folks who got the best of Sirius, welcome to the wonderful world of Howard Stern. He's gone again on yet another vacation and no Friday shows. I love Howard, but Jesus, you think you could have at least done one live show this week considering how many new subscribers you have coming over from XM?

No more Sirius (in a roundabout way)
I cancelled my Sirius. Yep, Dave the biggest supporter of Sirius cancelled his Sirius. I then went to the store and bought an XPressR and signed up for XM. I got XM and the best of Sirius package for 16 bucks a month. The way I see it, I only listened to Stern and Soccer, but I'm gaining baseball and hockey which is fine with me. I'll miss the Metropolitan Opera Channel, but I'm sure that XM has a suitable alternative. The Best of Sirius includes Howard and Football and that's about all I was interested in. I don't care for NASCAR, Playboy Radio, or Martha Stewart. I thought about doing the best of XM on my Sirus account, but it didn't include baseball or hockey. I'm happy with my decision, and will be even happier when Sirius refunds my money. For those with XM, what are the must listen to channels? I've already preset Howard 100, Howard 101,Opie and Anthony, MLB Home Plate, NHL Center Ice, and the Presidential Channel, as well as XM's NPR channel.

Monday Morning
Howard Stern is on vacation again and I guess they've run out of stuff to run since they're running a whole week on the origin of Howard's band "The Losers". Give us some more mammary lane, give us some more classic clips, instead of this "Losers" shit. I won't be listening this week. I don't mind that they're on vacation, but give us something good to listen to instead of this.
I'm really loving the Blogger on the Go feature. I've made several posts using the camera from my IPhone. It makes blogging that much easier since I can now post a funny picture instantly rather than waiting till I get home from wherever I'm at. It's a nice feature and I hope it's expanded on in the future.
Andrew has started a blog here. Give it a look. I helped him set it up and used my utterly fantastic (haha) Photoshop skills to make a banner for it.
Well that's all for now. Thanks for reading

George Takei Redux
George was so good on the Stern show this week. From the Gay Bachelor party to his discussions with Brad about what happened during the Bachelor party, it was a great week. I love George Takei and am so happy that he and Brad can finally do what everyone else in the world can do. "George" weeks are the best weeks of the Stern Show.
I teared up a little
Listening to Mike call in on the Stern Show today to talk to Howard about his wife's double mastectomy and recurring cancer made me tear up a little bit. It's just sad how some folks get dealt shit sandwiches in their lives. Howard giving $500 dollars to the couple and Artie offering to do a benefit for them is what makes this show to me. People love to make Howard out to be a sexist pig and Artie an ass, but deep down, that's the real Howard and Artie and it's nice to see it from time to time.

Tuesday thoughts.
Christina Applegate cancer free after double mastectomy
Such sad news. Christina's new show "Samantha Who" was pretty good and I loved her in the "Sweetest Thing". It's sad to see cancer strike someone so young, but let's remember that cancer doesn't care what race, age, or gender you are. My best wishes go out to her and I'm glad the cancer is gone. Good luck Christina.
George Takei has been hillarious on the Stern Show so far. I love when George comes in and I'll sound a bit like a broken record, but I feel the show goes up about 10 notches when George is in. I'm sure he'll never read this, but congrats to George and Brad on their upcoming nuptials. California and Massachusetts have the right idea, now it's time for the rest of the country to do the right thing.
I'll be getting a 360 again tomorrow. I'm trying to decide what I'd like to pick up. I'm thinking NCAA, Madden, and Call of Duty 4, but I'm not sure.
I've noticed that the formatting is screwed up when blogging on the go. I'll have to do some research on how to fix that. Have a good one folks and thanks for reading as always.

A few things
I changed my email address for the blog only. It's now dave@davesnothereman.net Feel free to send me an email if you've got any ideas on how to improve the blog.
Secondly RIP Bernie Mac. I never was a big fan of his, but it's sad to see someone die so young. What a shame that another great comedian has been taken so far this year (along with the greatest in George Carlin)
Will Artie be back Monday? It wouldn't be a vacation unless Artie had some kind of issue. I hope he's back and I hope he's better.
Over at the WNR forums, it appears that Madden is getting good reviews. You guys are gonna make me get another fucking 360 or PS3. Dammit.
Well that's all for now, have a good one folks and I'll post when I can.

Artie in Rehab
Artie Lange in Rehab.
I just hope he hasn't been using again. Good luck Artie and come back soon. The show won't be the same without you.

The History of Howard Stern Part 2 and other thoughts.
I've been relistening to the History of Howard Stern and heard a commercial for part two which will premiere 12-15-08. I really feel that part 1 helped new Stern fans out like myself to learn more about Howard and I feel that part 2 will do even more for new Stern fans. The new Stern fans don't know about Howard's struggles with the FCC and with CBS/Viacom/Infinity. I cannot wait for Part 2 to air in December. I just wonder if it will cover from the time he left NBC up to and including Sirius or if it will just cover KROCK. I wonder if Howard will still be gagged for part 2 from talking about KROCK and I hope that Tom Chiusano can speak about the KROCK years now that he's no longer an employee of CBS radio. I also wonder if the "Allison" years will be covered.
I'm still enjoying the Raconteurs album. It's one of the best albums I've heard in my life and I'm glad I bought it. I love the White Stripes anyway, so this was a natural for me and I can't believe I'd never heard it before.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new 360. I think I'll go ahead and buy one then just go get the $50 back once the price drops. Patience is not one of my strong points and never has been.

A Re-introduction of sorts
It's been a while since I hit the ole reset button and since I have quite a few new readers, I figured I'd reset a bit and refresh the old "getting to know me" post.
My name for those who don't know is "Dave Roland" hence the namesake in "Dave's Not Here Man". I'm 34 years old and I live in Knoxville, TN, but sometimes wish I lived in a much bigger city (just for the sports). I'm the proud parent of cats and am in the process of a divorce (hey it's ok, I'm perfectly fine with it, don't feel bad for me. I'm an avowed Libertarian and will be voting that way in November.
I'm a huge fan of both Kidd Chris and Howard Stern and can't wait for Chris to make his way back to radio in some form or another. I feel that Chris was scapegoated by CBS radio and I hope that he returns to radio on Sirius. I'm also a fan of the Miserable Men Show on Sirius. I listen to quite a bit of so called "shock jock" radio. My reasons for being such a big Stern fan include the prank calls and quite simply, one "Arthur Lange". I love Artie and he's one of my favorite comedians. I haven't gotten the chance to see him live yet, but if ever comes close to Knoxville, TN, then I'm there.
I'm a gamer although not as much anymore. I sold my 360 off to pay some bills so now I only have a PS3. I use it primarily for sports games at the moment (F1 CE, NASCAR 09, MLB08 The Show, and Hot Shots). My gamertag is "itsmedave". Feel free to hit me up for a game of anything. I gamefly non sports games and have had quite a bit of success getting games from the service.
I write for Who Needs Rules as well. My main focus over there is gaming. Scott has done a great job over there and we have a great set of gaming forums as well. It's a real tight knit group and it's pretty diverse as far as topics and discussions go.
Well I guess that's my reset post. I'd like to welcome all my new readers to the blog and since the majority of them are Kidd Chris Listeners, then I'll offer just one tidbit. "Don't lose the faith, Kidd Chris will return".
