Shame Shame on you A-Rod

Well well what do you know, A-Rod is now A-Roid.  He admitted to taking steroids or some other performance enhancing drug while he was a Texas Ranger.  He's lucky that Walker Texas Ranger doesn't come to NY often or he'd deliver a roundhouse kick to his face.  I've never liked A-Rod from his salary demands, to fussing with Derek Jeter, to fucking around on his wife with Madonna.  I'm just glad that the rest of the world joins me now in my hatred of A-Roid.  This guy is fucking scum and always has been and today just proves it. As a matter of fact, let's just make A-Rod my asshole of the week.  I know it's only Monday night/early Tuesday, but I don't see anyone else topping A-Rod this week.

#1000

#1000

Pat Summit becomes the first college coach to win 1000 games in a victory over Georgia last night 73-43.  It was even sweeter that it came against a conference rival.  I'm not typically a fan of women's basketball unless it's the Lady Vols and Pat Summit.  Pat is such an amazing woman and an amazing coach and we sure are proud of her in Knoxville.   People can trivialize women's basketball all they'd like, but even the harshest of critics must admit that Pat has reached a milestone that no one thought could be reached.  Great job Pat and the team and here's hoping that Pat will be around Knoxville for at least 1000 more.

UT missed out on Receiver Marlon Brown from Harding Academy in Memphis . He chose the Bulldogs over Tennessee. Overall, I was impressed with what Kiffen and Co. did and I'm sure I'll be even more impressed when he has an entire year to recruit.

Random stuff

Well it appears the only big move on Transfer day was Keane back to the Spurs.  Nothing else major really happened.

I sold my 40GB PS3 and am actively pursuing either a 60gb or 80gb backwards compatible model.  I should hopefully have one by weeks end.  I'd much prefer just to have one machine sitting in my entertainment center instead of 2.  For those wondering, I did get $25 more for the 40GB model than I paid for it, so it was a good flip.

I'm putting on my flame proof suit right now and saying that I'm skipping Resident Evil 5.  The controls are fucking horrid.  If I miss out on a good gameplay experience, oh well.  I detest the controls.

Pat Summit missed out on win #1000 last night.  Hopefully she can get it against Georgia later this week at home.  I'd almost bet on it.  Pat is one of the greatest coaches of all time, bar none.

The Cubs have traded quite a few players in the last week.  Rich Hill, Mike Wuertz, and Ronnie Cedeno are all gone.  I can remember when Jim Hendry said he wouldn't trade Rich Hill and Felix Pie to the Orioles for Brian Roberts, idiot.  They're now both Orioles players and it cost them next to nothing to get them.

Expet more later today and check out my twitter for even more updates.

Pat Summit goes for win #1000

Pat Summit goes for win #1000 tonight against Oklahoma.  Hands down one of the best coaches of all time, and this would be unprecedented in NCAA history.  Hopefully she gets it tonight.  Good luck Pat.

My Super Bowl Predictions

I'll make this short and sweet.  I think the Cardinals will not only win their first Super Bowl, but they'll win it in dramatic fashion.  28-24 over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tony Bruno gone from LA Station

Tony Bruno has been taken off the air by AM 570 in Los Angeles, thus ending the downloadable podcast for his show. Goddamnit, every single time I get into a radio program or podcast, it gets cancelled (See Kidd Chris, 1Up Yours, and others). There's talk that Tony may be back in podcast form in some way or another, but I'll believe it when I see it. Color me frustrated right now as I feel there's no one better than Bruno when it comes to sports talk.

The Tony Bruno Show part 2 and radio discussion.

I've been listening to Tony Bruno for the better part of a week and he's still the best sports radio guy ever. The podcasts are a bit hard to get to, but it's well worth it to find them. Tony is still as funny as ever and still plays the soundbites, does entertainment news, and is one of the best interviewers in the business. I've missed the show so much and am glad to be able to listen again.

When I was a kid, I was a master of the AM radio dial. If I tilted the radio just right, I could get WGN out of Chicago to listen to the Cubs game, KMOX in St. Louis, and the great WFAN in NYC. I can't tell you how many times I got into trouble for listening via headphones way after I was supposed to be in bed when I was a kid. It's great that I don't have to do that now. I can listen to Cubs games on my XM and I can listen to WFAN via the AOL Radio app on my IPhone. Technology rules!!

My Super Bowl Predictions

I'm not the best pigskin prognosticator but I'll say that the Super Bowl will be Arizona vs. Pittsburgh. We'll see if I'm right later tonight.

Lecavalier to the Habs?

The rumors are flying around the Intertube about a deal which will send Vincent Lecavalier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Chris Higgins, a pick, and other names. Barry Melrose mentioned it in his ESPN Podcast and brought up a great point. It's been ages since Montreal has had a top flight French Canadian player. I'd love to see this happen as Vinnie has always excited me as a player. I love to watch him play and I'd love to see him in a Habs uni.

The Tony Bruno Show

While digging for Podcasts yesterday and digging up some info on the new Dan Patrick Show, I found out that Tony Bruno is doing a national show again. Tony Bruno and Dan Patrick during the late 90's and early 2000's were part of my daily ritual with their two fantastic radio shows, and I'm thrilled to have rediscovered them again. Tony and Dan both are on Sirius XM as well. I listened to Tony Bruno from the time he was on ESPN Radio till his national deal ended with Sporting News Radio and it's nice to hear him national again.

The NFL Head Coach Curse?

We've all heard about the Madden Curse, the curse that can take a superstar and turn his season into a trainwreck, but what about the NFL Head Coach Curse?  Both coaches who have been on the cover are no longer in coaching with Tony Dungy continuing the curse yesterday that Bill Cowher started.  If there is a Head Coach 2010, then I hope Bill Bellichek is on the cover (kidding Pats fans, kidding)

2009 is off to a flying start sports wise (sarcasm)

Well 2009 has started out great for my sports teams.  The Vols didn't make it to a Bowl Game, the basketball Vols haven't looked as good as I'd hoped, and the Titans once again became the "bitch" in their ongoing series with the Ravens.  Too many turnovers and too little too late for the Titans and we're one and done.  Oh well, there's always next season.  It should be a fun offseason down in Nashville just seeing what the Titans do with one Vince Young.

Florida 24 Oklahoma 14

It was a much closer game than I'd ever have thought it would be and one of the best National Championship games in ages. The big question for Florida now is will Tebow and Harvin stay for a fourth year? The UT fan in me hopes they don't, but the college football fan wouldn't mind it. Tebow is a great college QB.

National Championship Game Thoughts

I think Florida takes this one easily, and it breaks my heart to say that.  I'm a fan of the Vols, but this "rah rah root for the SEC in Bowl Games Bullshit" doesn't fly with me.  I'd love to see Stoops knock Meyer down a peg, but I don't know if Oklahoma has the horses to do it.  Percy Harvin and Tim Tebow are two of the most talented athletes in the NCAA and I don't know that Oklahoma can slow em down.  Florida 42 Oklahoma 31

Put Another Quarter in, PacMan is out of lives

The smartest thing the Titans ever did was get rid of this fool and I can't believe that Dallas was foolish enough to give him a shot.  He's in trouble yet again for an alleged shooting incident outside an Atlanta strip club.  Pacman has to be one of the dumbest human beings alive.  You have all that talent and money, and you squander it.  Looks like Pacman 2.0 won't ever see it's release date and pacman 1.0 will be locked up for quite a while.  Idiot

Mark Nagi's column for the Knoxville Focus

One of the best sportscasters in Knoxville, and a damn good guy Mark Nagi writes a column for The Knoxville Focus. If you're inclined check it out. He wrote a piece this week that is one of the funniest columns I've read asking Mike Hamilton to consider Mike Shanahan for an offensive coach. Mark is one of those three torture types, he does radio, tv, and writes a column. Give it a look

Jim Chaney Info (Thanks Quint!!!)

My good friend Jim aka Quint aka Memory Almost Full Guy posted this info in a comment on my NFL University post about Jim Chaney, a guy I admittedly don't know much about.  Thanks for the info man!!!

Dave, I couldn't find out too much about Chaney's tenure as a coach with the Rams. He was the O coordinator at Purdue for a while and they had exceptional offenses during that time. He was also the recruiting coordinator at Purdue and got some pretty good talent to come to a second-tier Big 10 school in the middle of Indiana. Not bad. He ran a spread/pro style hybrid at Purdue. I think he is a very sound pick as offensive coordinator based on his Purdue resume alone. Good luck to the Vols in 2009!

F-ing Hillarious Ed Orgeron Parody Song

This was posted on Vol Nation and I've watched it three times and it's still cracking me up.  Now the "Yaw Yaw" Song. This was done when Orgeron was the coach of the Ole Miss Rebels
