Caught up on the Unit

I'm finally caught up on the Unit and ready for a new episode next Sunday. I'm truly glad I started watching this show because it's one of the best dramas on television right now. As I posted to Twitter yesterday, the two episode arc where Jonas and the team go into Syria to rescue Jonas's daughter is the finest television I've ever watched. Dennis Haysbert has become one of my favorite actors on television thanks to this and 24 and who can forget him in Major League as well.

3rd Season of the Unit finished

I finished up the 3rd season of the Unit this morning and it was quite good. I'm a couple of episodes into the fourth season and am about to catch up thankfully. Now I only have 6 seasons of 24 to catch up on. Ughh. I hate getting into shows this late.

24 Season 1 err Day 1

I'm up to episode 19 of season 1 of 24. This is a damn good show. I know it's going to be hard, but I'm really looking forward to watching all eleventy zillion episodes that i've missed out on. I have to say that after watching almost all of season 1 of 24 and almost all of two seasons of The Unit, Dennis Haysbert is now one of my favorite actors. He's one of the most talented actors I've ever seen.

24

You know how you always wanted to start watching a show but never got around to it, and then you watch one episode and you're hooked?  I'm now hooked on 24 as well.  I watched the first 8 episodes of Season 1 and it's quite good.  Good enough that I'm up after sleeping 3 or 4 hours and ready to watch some more before I go into work.  I went to Blockbuster yesterday and they have a deal where you can rent a whole season of a TV show for $7 for 7 days.  It was too good a deal to pass up and now I'm hooked on 24 as well.  I now have two series to catch up on (24 and the Unit) before I even get to my DVR'ed episodes of both.

Alec Baldwin's Wii Skit on SNL

Alec Baldwin is always brilliant on SNL and his Wii Skit was no exception

The Joaquin Phoenix Interview

Now the World Famous Joaquin Phoenix Interview from Late Night with David Letterman. Dave does his best to make something funny out of a bad thing. Not sure what is going on with Mr. Phoenix. One really has to wonder if this was schtick or not.

Izzie and George Gone?

According to the Chief James Pickens Jr, Izzie and George are goners at the end of the season

I can't say I'm surprised at Heigl leaving but TR Knight is a bit of a shocker. He's really done nothing outside of Greys while Heigl has been in a couple of big releases. I'll miss George, but the Izzie storyline has gone cold for me. To be honest, I've never really cared for Izzy's character or storyline, but I did like George as a character. Looks like big changes are afoot at Seattle Grace.

The First Season of the Unit complete

I finished up the First Season of the Unit tonight and have the first two discs of Season 2 on the way from Netflix.  This is one show that I always wanted to watch, but never made the time to do so and I'm glad I have now.  I love the characters and I love the show and it's now one of my favorites.  The first season ended with a cliffhanger so I'm ready to watch episode 1 of season 2 the moment it gets here.  I'm glad I had the foresight to go ahead and DVR season four on Dish  Network.

Life on Mars Season 1 Episode 9

You can tell this show is now following Lost. It seems that's its a bit more mysterious to hook in the Lost crowd. The whole show this week just had more of an eerie feel to it than in past episodes.

First of all

Ray Carling's Line of the Week
"The Clothes look familiar, but I can't place the face" (in response to being asked if he knew the person who had been decapitated)

It seems to me that ABC ran this episode out of order. It seems to me that this show should have run last week instead of the Russian mob episode since it seems to directly follow Sam's shooting. The crew is chasing a killer who is decapitating his victims. Overall it wasn't the best episode, but it wasn't the worst either. We did find out at the end of the episode that Sam Tyler has a file with something called the "Aries Project". It's still one of my favorite shows on television and is woefully unappreciated both by critics and viewers. As I've said before, give it a shot and see what you think. It's a great show, but much in the same way Lost functions, you have to be in it from the beginning at least in my opinion.

Grey's Anatomy Season 5 Episode 14

Line of the Week
Derek to Meredith- "I want your crappy babies"

Very good episode again and another episode which delves us deeper into the character that is Miranda. Miranda is my favorite character on the show and has been since roughly the first episode. She's so much deeper than the other characters at least to me and I love seeing her storylines play out. We also saw more emotion from the Chief than we've ever seen before describing engagement and the surgery he took part in. We've seen what seems to be the "cold, uncaring chief" for most of the season and it's nice to see him peel back his exterior and have a laugh and socialize with his workers

We all know that Addison is making her way back to Seattle Grace next week via the phone call at the end of the show. It seems everyone knows that Derek has a ring with the exception of Meredith and we still have no idea what is wrong with Izzy. From reading around the intertubes, it appears that Katherine Heigel can get out of her Grey's Anatomy contract, so we'll see if this is the last hoorah of Izzy Stevens. No Denny this week which was good. I've grown tired of seeing Denny and it seems that the writers of Grey's have ruined a great character at least for me. Every time over the last few episodes that I've seen Denny, here's my initial reaction "Not this shit again". I hope it's coming to a close. We also saw Callie get a kiss from the new doctor. Overall a very good episode and I'm hoping that Grey's is finally righting the ship.

TV Shows become much like a loved one to alot of viewers. Now before you throw me under the bus, think about my logic for a sec. We watch characters grow and grow up on the screen before us. We share in their joys, their disappointments, and their everyday lives. We get frustrated when a show isn't as good as it once was and we get angry when one of our favorite shows gets cancelled. We want to see the show become the best that it can be and when the ship gets righted we're happy again. I hope Greys stays good and I look forward to seeing Addison again next week. I don't watch Private Practice and I've missed the character in her familiar surroundings.

30 Rock Season 3 Episode 10 "Generalissimo"

If you're not watching 30 Rock, then shame on you. This was one of the best shows of the season thus far. I love Salma Hayek and hope she gets to stay on a while longer as Jack's love interest. Alec Baldwin was especially brilliant this week playing both Jack Donaghy and the Generalissimo. It's truly a shame that this show isn't watched by more people because it is hands down the best comedy on network television right now (if not all of television).

The lines of the week
"I want to go to there"-Liz Lemon
Jenna describing the perils of drugging a date (having been on both sides of it)

Please give 30 Rock a try if you haven't already. It is truly brilliant

The Unit

I picked up the first season on DVD and am getting ready to watch. Does anyone watch this show (specifically Shield fans)? Is it as gritty as the Shield?

Catching up on Television (Grey's Anatomy and Life on Mars)

I finally got around to watching the last two episodes of Grey's and it seems like it may be starting to come around a little. I know that I've been negative and harsh on Grey's, but the last two episodes have been better. I enjoyed the storyline with the young sick boy and the death row inmate. The last two episodes may have saved Grey's from "season pass" hell on my DVR. It was this close to joining Nip/Tuck, Private Practice, My Name is Earl, and others but it saved itself.

Life on Mars was nothing short of fantastic Wednesday night. I'm going to start a new segment during my Life on Mars reviews with Ray's line of the week. Ray Carling (played by the brilliant Michael Imperioli) uttered one of the better and most risque lines I've ever heard on broadcast television

"I'd like to put some butter on those taters"

Utterly brilliant line. It was a bit of a Sopranos reunion this week with Vince Curatola playing the role of a rival squad captain to Lieutenant Gene Hunt. It's damn good to see Johnny Sac again, and just like with Christophaaa, it's weird to see him playing a cop. It was a very good episode and it was the first time that 1970's Sam got it on with a lady, albeit Lieutenant Hunt's daughter. I'd imagine that will cause problems later. I'll stand on my soapbox and sing like a broken record, that Life on Mars is the best new show of the season and no one is paying attention. It's a brilliant concept for a show and I hope that it catches on with the Lost Crowd and draws big numbers, well at least big enough to get a second season. Please do yourself a favor and go on over to ABC.com and catch up on this show. It has one of the best and most star laden casts on television, along with a strong story to boot. For the record, if anyone figures out how I can watch the British version in America, it would be most appreciated. I can't seem to find any R1 DVD's of the series nor is it available on ITunes or Netflix.

Too much TV to catch up on.

I have so much television to catch up on right now.  I have two episodes of Grey's to watch (really debating watching those since it's gotten so bad this year), 1 episode of Life on Mars, and 8 episodes from the first season of The Unit to watch. Hopefully I can get caught up soon.  Thank goodness 30 Rock was a repeat this week or I'd have to watch that.

Life on Mars returns tonight

Life on Mars returns tonight on ABC and I hope the viewership goes up by running the show right after Lost. I'll spare my readers a long diatribe about Life on Mars and just say that the show is brilliant and you should watch it. I'm talking to you " Lost" watchers. Please help us save Life on Mars.

The Belz and Richard Lewis on the View

So I'm sitting here in master control and look up at the ABC HD monitor and see Richard Belzer and Richard Lewis on the View at the same time. I might have to see if that's on the old YouTube later

Finally caught up on 30 Rock

Well I downloaded the first 6 episodes of the 3rd season of 30 Rock off ITunes on Monday and finally finished them up earlier today, so I'm ready for the new episodes that started airing tonight. I love this show so much and I probably would have never watched an episode without the Netflix streaming on the XBOX360. If you have a 360 and you're not taking advantage of the Netflix service, then you're really missing out. I started out with the first season of 30 Rock and was hooked somewhere during the first episode. The acting is superb as are the characters. Sure Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan are great in their roles, but the true star of the show is Alec Baldwin. This is yet another great show that no one is watching. Give it a shot on hulu.com if you're so inclined. It's well worth the viewing

Boston Legal Series Finale

So now two of my favorite shows, Boston Legal and The Shield, have had their series finale with another (Dirty Sexy Money) on the way. I finally got around to watching the series finale of Boston Legal and it was nothing short of brilliant. I've watched Boston Legal since right after it began running and it's one of my favorite shows. Alan and Denny are two of my favorite characters on television and I was pleased with how the series ended with their subsequent same-sex marriage. I wasn't big on the Practice, but I loved when it spun off to Boston Legal. I can remember when the name of the series was going to be "Fleet Street". David Kelley is working on another law show, and I for one will be watching. Denny Crane Forever
