Tony Bruno gone from LA Station

Tony Bruno has been taken off the air by AM 570 in Los Angeles, thus ending the downloadable podcast for his show. Goddamnit, every single time I get into a radio program or podcast, it gets cancelled (See Kidd Chris, 1Up Yours, and others). There's talk that Tony may be back in podcast form in some way or another, but I'll believe it when I see it. Color me frustrated right now as I feel there's no one better than Bruno when it comes to sports talk.

The Tony Bruno Show part 2 and radio discussion.

I've been listening to Tony Bruno for the better part of a week and he's still the best sports radio guy ever. The podcasts are a bit hard to get to, but it's well worth it to find them. Tony is still as funny as ever and still plays the soundbites, does entertainment news, and is one of the best interviewers in the business. I've missed the show so much and am glad to be able to listen again.

When I was a kid, I was a master of the AM radio dial. If I tilted the radio just right, I could get WGN out of Chicago to listen to the Cubs game, KMOX in St. Louis, and the great WFAN in NYC. I can't tell you how many times I got into trouble for listening via headphones way after I was supposed to be in bed when I was a kid. It's great that I don't have to do that now. I can listen to Cubs games on my XM and I can listen to WFAN via the AOL Radio app on my IPhone. Technology rules!!

The Tony Bruno Show

While digging for Podcasts yesterday and digging up some info on the new Dan Patrick Show, I found out that Tony Bruno is doing a national show again. Tony Bruno and Dan Patrick during the late 90's and early 2000's were part of my daily ritual with their two fantastic radio shows, and I'm thrilled to have rediscovered them again. Tony and Dan both are on Sirius XM as well. I listened to Tony Bruno from the time he was on ESPN Radio till his national deal ended with Sporting News Radio and it's nice to hear him national again.

More thoughts on Bubba the Love Sponge

I'm hopeful that tomorrow's announcement is that Bubba is leaving Sirius XM.  I've never been a fan of Bubba's.  He reminded me a lot of a televangelist bitching about money and about his contract and hawking his silly BTLS merchandise.  I'll be glad to see him go.  Bubba was a bit of a novelty when I first got Satellite radio.  I listened to him for a few days and then occasionally flipped over when Howard was in commercial.  Good luck to Bubba if this is the end of Sirius XM.  He'll be off regular radio for doing something stupid in a matter of time.  I'm not sure why you'd give up a nationwide audience to be local, but to each his own.  This just clears the way for someone like Kidd Chris or Phil Hendrie to step into his place.

Bubba the Love Sponge leaving Sirius?

Link from Orbitcast

It looks like there is an announcement Monday morning where it is expected that Bubba is leaving Sirius to go back to FM full time.  Phil Hendrie is one of the names being bandied about to replace Bubba and crew.  I have a better idea, how about Kidd Chris?  He's close with Howard and would work well with the Stern crowd in the afternoon.  Get it done Tim Sabian.  Kidd Chris for Sirius-XM in 09.

Big O and Dukes Show

Thanks to regular reader Suds, I think I've found a bit of a replacement for Kidd Chris until he makes his way back to the air. Their names are Big O and Dukes and they're on the air on WJFK in Washington DC. They're not quite up to Kidd Chris standards, but they are pretty funny. They interviewed Cliffy B of Gears of War fame on Friday and the interview was fantastic. I feel that Stern has become a bit tired here lately and I've only listened briefly over the course of the last month. I love Opie and Anthony, but with my crazy work schedule, I don't get to listen to them much. Big O and Dukes are available via podcasts in ITunes. Give em a listen and see what you think, and again, thanks Suds.

Bonaduce on WYSP

I can't believe that I've forgotten to mention this, but thanks to blog reader Suds (thanks for the emails and such!!!) I remembered to write about it. I'm not sure if Danny Bonaduce has taken over for Kidd Chris in the mornings at WYSP yet, but I'll give my thoughts on it. He'll last no time. He was a hack who got kicked off Adam Corolla's morning show and hasn't been able to make it in LA.. If this is who CBS thinks can take out Preston and Steve, then once again, they've screwed the proverbial pooch. I've heard Danny a few times on Stern and it's as dull as dull can get. Bad Move WYSP
