2007 Year in Review-The Gaming section

A lot happened entertainment wise for Dave in 2007. Here's a few highlights

Gaming

-I lost 2 360's during 2007. One to a video card problem and another to the Red Rings of Death. I'm glad to see that Microsoft has solved their technical problems (sarcasm)

-After reading how much people loved MLB07 The Show on PS2 on OS, I went out and bought a PS2 and was amazed at the gameplay. I almost teared up the first time I played it. I then read on OS about MLB07 the Show on PS3. I returned the PS2 for what's listed below.

-I bought a PS3 for MLB07 The Show. A bit ridiculous, maybe to some, but not to me. I love the sport of Baseball, it's second only to my love of Soccer. I've also enjoyed Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, F1, Resistance and a bevy of PS2 games. I was an XBOX guy from 2002 on, so I missed out on alot of great PS2 games. Right now, I'm playing the SOCOM series on my PS3 as well as the Devil May Cry and God of War Series on the PS3. The PS3 is a great system and I look for it to make great strides in 2008.

-In November, I purchased a PSP and I love it as well. It's a much better system than the DS in my opinion with it's full featured sports games and other system sellers. I've enjoyed the Syphon Filter series, FIFA08, Hot Shots, and several other games and with the addition of the PS store, it only adds to the fun and functionality of the system. As I've said on this blog before, the PSP is a great system and if you've got the spare cash, it's well worth a buy.

I'm not gonna post a Best of 2007 since that's tired and since it's been done for so long.

My favorite Sports games of the year

MLB07-Hands down the best. Best reason to own a PS3
F1 Championship Series-great game with a great career mode
College Hoops 2k8-great game sans the bugs.
FIFA08 PSP and 360-both great games

Worst Sports Game of the Year
Hands down Madden 08. What a fucking turd of a game. I won't be buying it next year new. I'll be waiting for it to show up used and I'll be waiting for impressions. David Ortiz could have shit in a 360 case and it would have ended up better than Madden 08. Easily one of the biggest disappointments in 2007.

Other Games
I loved Bioshock, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, God of War II, and the list goes on and on.

Games I'm looking forward to in 2008 (in order of importance)

1. MLB08-Chris and Kolbe have a great hit on their hands once again. The most immersive baseball experience since High Heat should be a winner again.

2. God of War Chains of Olympus-This will be the game that makes alot more people buy the PSP. It should be fantastic

3. Gears of War II-If it makes it out, it will be fantastic

4 and 5. Hot Shots Golf 5 and Hot Shots Golf Open Tee Two: Two games that will be more realistic than Tiger despite being Cartooney games. That's sad really.

6. Metal Gear Solid IV-One of the best series makes its way to next gen.

7. Killzone 2: Looks good, but the first one looked good as well and wasn't very good.

8. Haze: Looks good and has online co-op

9. SOCOM Confrontation-It's a SOCOM game and I really like those so it should be good.

10. Tom Clancy Games: Rainbow Six Vegas 2, GRAW 3, and Splinter Cell Confrontation-these are all must buys when they come out and I don't anticipate any difference this time around.

11. FIFA09- FIFA made so many improvements this year so 09 should be really good

Some things I'd love to see developers do in 2008.

1. Sony-here's what needs to be addressed in 2007
A) Sony should make the PS3 and PSP franchises interchangeable. I'd love to be able to play a few games of a dynasty on my PSP then transfer it to my PS3. I hope this makes it in.
B) Fuck Home. The only people that are going to care about that are preteens and teens. Give us in game messenging, give us in game chat. Basically, give us XBOX live without the fees.
C) Stop with the multiple SKU's. It's ridiculous
D) Give us more demos for the PSP and PS3. Give us demos of paid games like XBOX does

2. Microsoft needs to straighten out lots of problems with their console. Here's a list of those
A) Fix the fucking problems with your console. It's not gonna be too long till Red Rings makes it into Webster's Dictionary
B) Fix Live. It's been down more in 2007 than a dollar hooker in West Hollywood
C) Stop the assault on roster makers. These guys do a great service for the college games and sports games and have nothing to do with gamersave whores.
D) Get us Gears of War II by years end. Help Cliffy B!!!

I won't post about the Wii. I had one and got rid of it.

That's all for now folks. Hope you enjoyed the read.
