Thoughts on Sony's Presser at E3

I finally got a chance to watch Sony's Press Conference this morning and here's a few of my thoughts on the conference.

Motion Controller- Who really gives a shit?  As I posted yesterday, Microsoft and Sony should make better games to catch up with Nintendo, not come out with their own hokey motion controllers to try and take market share away from the Wii.  Eventually, the casual gamers that Nintendo has catered too will grow tired of their Wii's, sell them, and move on to the next hot fad.  For the record, much like quite a few other people, I detest Sixxaxis controls on my PS3.  I turn them off and avoid them at any cost.

God of War III-hands down my favorite gaming series of all time and I cannot wait for the third one in March 2010.  To me, God of War is not only the best series on the PS brand of systems, but my favorite gaming series all time, so I am a bit biased.  The graphics are amazing and it appears to hold onto the magic from GOW I and GOW II.  God of War III should easily win Game of the Show for E309 (again I'm a bit biased when it comes to God of War).

I'm not really interested in Final Fantasy or Gran Turismo 5, but both looked really good.  Sorry, I'm just not a fan of JRPG's or car games.

The PSP Go costs $50 to much.  I'd love to upgrade my PSP, but not for $250.  With the cost for flash memory at an all time low, I'm not sure why Sony priced it at $250.  I predict a colossal failure at launch and a price drop within 6 months.  I did like some of the new PSP Titles (MGS, LBP, and others) but that price has to drop before launch.  We're already dealing with an overpriced PS3, we don't need an overpriced handheld from Sony as well.

MAG-I don't play much online, but it is from Zipper (SOCOM) so I might give it a shot.  You + 255 other assholes =fun maybe

The Last Guardian-Ico and Shadows of the Colossus are two of my all time favorite games, so I'm thrilled that we'll have a new Team ICO game soon enough.  It's a shame that this game won't sell systems in NA, because Team ICO is perhaps one of the best developers worldwide.

All in all, I'd give Sony a B-.  I expected a few more exclusives and the excitement I had for the PSPGo was crushed at the announcing of the price.
