Covering E3 Microsoft Edition

I watched most of the Microsoft press conference and I figured I'd hit the highlights with my thoughts on them.  I'll do the same for Sony's but I couldn't give two shits about Nintendo really.

Beatles Rock Band-yawn.  The music gaming genre is so tired and even though I love the Beatles, it's a skip for me.  I've had more than enough plastic instruments to last me a lifetime and the high price keeps me far far away.  I'm not spending almost as much as the console costs new to play a game.

Modern Warfare 2- Snowmobiles, Ice Climbing, Shooting a soldier gangsta style on a snowmobile.  Where do I sign up?

Crackdown 2-Yay!!!  One of the best games on the 360 bar none.  Truly excited for the sequel

Splinter Cell Conviction- One of the main reasons I've held onto my XBOX360.  I love the SC series and this one looks to have undergone some major changes from the last time gamers saw it.  Looks amazing and looks to be a must buy.

Alan Wake-Hmm.  Looks like Resident Evil 5 to me or Alone in the Dark.  I'll still buy it and it does look amazing.

Halo ODST and Halo Reach- I love the single player for the Halo games, but I'm probably one of ten people that hate the multiplayer for Halo.  It's Halo though and I love the Halo SP so they're both buys for me.

Facebook and Twitter-Yawn.  I have a computer and an IPhone for this,  The ability to upload screens via Facebook is cool, but otherwise not in the least bit interesting for me. What good are Facebook and Twitter on an XBOX360 without a web browser to open links from each program?

Metal Gear project- This, MW2, and SCC were the highlights of the show for me.  I was hoping for a port of MGS4, but I'm more than happy with a Raiden game.

Project NATAL- Supposed $200 price tag means a pass for me and I'm sure for many more folks as well.  I predict epic failure for this device if it releases at that price point.  The tech is very cool, and I don't mean to shit on it, but it's clearly not for me.  As I've posted on this blog several times, I detest motion controls on both the Wii and on the PS3 because I'd rather play with controllers.  We'll see how it does once it comes out.  I was bored with the whole Milo tech demo as well.  Yawn

We also saw more Overpriced Arcade titles as well.

Overall, I'd give Microsoft a solid B for their conference.  NATAL could be a big hit IF it comes out at a lower price than $200.
