30 Rock was excellent as always this week. Jack's mother is fast becoming one of my favorite characters and I'd love to see her move to NYC just to give Jack hell on a more regular basis. Since Jack is intimidated by no one at work, it's nice to see that someone can still lead him around by the nose. I'm extremely thrilled that 30 Rock has been picked up by ABC for a 4th season and I hope that in the 4th season, the writers dive more into the character that is Kenneth.
Grey's continues to rebound from the cesspool that was the first part of the season. The scenes between the Chief and Meredith were excellent as were the scenes between Izzie and her mother. To be honest, I really don't mind if Izzie is killed off and I still could care less about Owen Hunt and wish that it were him leaving the show instead of George. I still wonder if Derek and Meredith will end up being married or if something will happen ala Burke and Christina's wedding.
The quality of Southland continues to increase while the ratings seem to decrease on a week to week basis. I love the fact that the writers are now giving viewers episodes that focus on just a few characters and their stories instead of many characters and many stories. This week was the detectives turn and there was no shortage of great backstories. I love the character Lynn and found her backstory very interesting, as well as the stories of the 3 other detectives. I find the detectives' stories much more interesting than that of the beat cops. NBC has already ordered an additional 13 episodes for the fall season, but if the ratings keep sliding, who knows if they'll even air the episodes. With Jay Leno occupying the 10p-11p slot M-F, it's going to be hard for NBC to fit shows into their schedules. In many ways, it will mirror Fox's Primetime schedule in that NBC now only has two hours to fit all these shows into. I'd say we'll see NBC have an even quicker hook than ABC (is that even possible?) if shows don't catch on in the fall.
