I truly get tired of saying this every week, but this was the best episode of the season.
First a few observations from the episode
Dirtbag Olivia is back and she's brought her scheming right back to the forefront. Who knows what in the hell she's gonna do next? It's apparent that she will not listen to reason. Her mother tried to talk some sense into her, then Aaron Pierce gave a rousing speech and one of the best lines of the whole series for him by saying "I've seen the wrong person go free too many times".
During the teleconference according to the screen there were 12 people voting but we only saw 3 actual faces. So who are the other 9? Will we find out at some point within the next four episodes or will this lead into Season 8? I'd guess that since season 8 will take place either days or weeks past Season 7, this might not be wrapped up by then. The plan involving the Muslim youth made me a bit sad that Tony and his crew would blame their whole mess on someone else.
The interrogation scene between Jack and Hodges was not what I'd imagined when I saw the previews last week. Jack and Hodges both were quite a bit less low key than I thought they'd be. Healthy Jack would have opened up a can of whoopass on Hodges, but sick Jack goes the diplomatic route. I did love when Hodges tried to compare himself to Jack and said what all the 24 fans have said all along that Jack should be a national hero and shouldn't be paraded in front of a senate committee.
CTU=Recommissioned Yay!!!!!. The smartest decision Allison Taylor has made in 20 hours. At least the re-appearance of CTU in Season 8 is now explained.
When I saw Chloe laying in bed and heard the phone ring. I almost jumped for joy. I've missed Chloe so much this season and it's good to have her back, and as an added bonus, we get to see Morris as well. Here's hoping CTU needs an extra hand at some point in the next four hours and we get to see more of Morris. Chloe is a bit of a funny character. I didn't like her at all in her first season, but now love the character and all her quirks. I also noticed that Jack didn't tell her about Tony or himself while on the phone. He knew she'd have big questions and DAMMIT he didn't have time for that.
It sure was nice to see the CTU logo back on the computers and WTF is up with Janice? I loved Jack reaming her out even if he was half crazed while doing it. I envision multiple conflicts over the next four hours between Chloe and Janice. I hope Janice doesn't come back for season 8. I hate the character and I hate the actor even more. I've more than a few choice words for Janene Garafolo that can't be said on this blog.
Well it looks like we get deeper into the plot with Tony and Crew next week and I'd imagine there's a very emotional scene between Jack and Chloe where he tells her that he's dying. It also appears that there is more scheming between Olivia and the mysterious man who was on the phone at the end of the episode.
As for my thoughts, I'm not really sure where this goes now. I still think season 7 will end with Tony-Jack confrontation. The real question is if Carlos Bernard comes back for Season 8 as a bad guy again. I still don't think that Jack dies at the end of this season or the end of season 8 for that matter. I'm also still holding true to my prediction that Logan and/or Powers shows back up before season's end. 4 more hours to go and I'd guess they're the best 4 hours yet. Ok I'll stop saying that (unless it's true of course)
