UT Football=NFL University?

Lane Kiffin continues to add to his all star staff adding Ed Orgeron (New Orleans Saints) as defensive line coach and assistant head coach and Jim Chaney (former St. Louis Rams assistant) as the Vols new offensive Coordinator. I'm hoping Quint can give me some info on Chaney since he's a former St. Louis staff member who coached Tight Ends. UT is putting together a fan's dream for a coaching staff and a place that can offer recruits training from staff members who were at the highest levels of the NFL. I'm so thrilled that UT has given Lane Kiffin carte blanche on hiring a staff. Orgeron is a tenacious recruiter who will improve UT's shot at big recruits greatly in my mind.

Dave, I couldn't find out too much about Chaney's tenure as a coach with the Rams. He was the O coordinator at Purdue for a while and they had exceptional offenses during that time. He was also the recruiting coordinator at Purdue and got some pretty good talent to come to a second-tier Big 10 school in the middle of Indiana. Not bad. He ran a spread/pro style hybrid at Purdue. I think he is a very sound pick as offensive coordinator based on his Purdue resume alone. Good luck to the Vols in 2009!
