Welcome Coach Lane Kiffin

I meant to blog about this yesterday, but didn't get a chance to. Lane Kiffin is officially the new head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. He seemed a bit nervous at times, but eventually warmed to the crowd and was cracking jokes about Al Davis, Urban Meyer, and others. He promised to work as hard as possible and didn't guarantee championships, just to win as much as possible and to keep the Tennessee traditions. He made no mention of assistants other than he's keeping a few of UT's old offensive staff on at least a trial basis. I'd say that he rids himself of all them. He was very respectful towards Coach Fulmer and mentioned that he'd like to sit down with him and chat. I don't see that happening, but he at least broached the subject. No mention was made of Monte making his way up from Tampa Bay, but I'd guess that will happen once the NFL Season is done (especially since Chris Mortenson mentioned again on ESPN).

As for my thoughts, I'm very pleased. Lane Kiffin was the best option available, considering the Irish have probably had their claws in Brian Kelly for a while. I've read some online opinions stating that they feel Kiffin is too young, but age is just a number in my opinion. He's been around one of the most brilliant minds in football in Monte Kiffin and I feel that has rubbed off on him. I'm excited about the possibilities and that's what any sports fan is excited about truly.
