The Shield Series Finale "Family Meeting"

Now that is the way a series should end.  The title of the episode is a bit ominous for obvious reasons which can't be revealed unless you watched the finale.  Ausiello said that there would be at least four significant deaths and there were.  I simply cannot believe that Shane killed Mara, Jackson, and their unborn daughter.  The last show was filled with angst and suspense for the entire hour and a half.  The scene with Shane on the phone with Vic in which he found out that Vic had an immunity deal was one of the best scenes on television.  He knew then that there was no way out and I found it odd when he gave the clerk at the store the rest of his money, but completely understood afterwards. The scene with Ronnie being arrested was just as powerful and one of the best camera shots on television was when Vic was walking out of the barn and just to the left of him Ronnie was being restrained.  This was easily the most stressful and powerful series finales in the history of television.  I was also glad that Julien's gay storyline was addressed in some small point at least by the look on his face when he saw two gay men going into a store together.

I'm not sure they'll ever read it but I'd like to thank Shawn Ryan for the Shield as well as Michael Chiklis, Walton Goggins, Jay Karnes, Catherine Dent, Michael Jac, Benito Martinez, CCH Pounder, David Rees Snell,  and Kenny Johnson for being a part of my life for the last seven years and for their stunning portrayals of each and every member of the barn.  I'd also like to thank Glenn Close, Forest Whitaker, and Anthony Anderson for their roles as Captain Rawlings, Lieutenant John Cavanaugh, and Antwon Mitchell.  Each of them brought a bit of starpower to the show and made the storylines even better.  I'd also like to thank the writers for their excellent scripts as well.  The Shield WAS the best show on television bar none and it's hands down my favorite show of all time.  I'm truly sad to see it go and come this time next year, I'm not sure what I'll be doing at 10pm on Tuesdays, but you can bet that whatever it is that I'm watching, it won't be anywhere near the quality of the best show on tv: The Shield.
