Twitter Widget

I got rid of the Twitter widget on the side due to the obnoxious ads that just started today on it.  I'll find another client and stick it up in a bit.  I don't like having ads on the site if I can help it (other than for the ASPCA).  I'm apathetic to lots of causes and I only donate to animal causes because animals cannot help themselves.  It's not that I don't care about human related causes, it's just that humans for the most part can help themselves, animals cannot.

Please Digg me if you enjoy something I've written.

Animal Abuse

Every 10 seconds in this country, an animal is abused. Please take a moment over the course of your busy day to think about what these animals have been thru. I love my kitties and every time I think about animal abuse, I just want to hold them just a bit tighter. With the exception of Bubba, all of mine have been shelter animals. I tear up at the thought of just what they went thru while they were in the shelter before I adopted them. I've tried my best to treat them as good as possible and God knows I love each and every one of them (in spite of the fact that they are now the most rotten animals in the world). If you have a moment, please consider visiting the ASPCA's website. I put no advertising on this site other than the small web banner to the right advertising the ASPCA. Animal rights and railing against Animal Abuse are two of the greatest causes in my life. I've been an ASPCA member for years and invite you to do the same. Please take a moment to help me in my personal fight to end animal abuse forever. I donate to the ASPCA because I can't save them all no matter how much I try and I feel that the ASPCA can do a far better job than I can. If you're looking for a cat, dog, bird, snake, hamster, rabbit, or other assorted "soon to be rotten" creature, then please visit your local shelter. Local shelters are full of great pets. Thanks for reading as always.

Kudos to Mr. Obama

Kudos to President Elect Barack Obama. When asked about what kind of dog he was going to get for his girls, he said a shelter dog. Thanks Mr. Obama. I hope everyone goes out to get a shelter dog or a shelter cat now. Every day, thousands die in shelters.

The Real Winners in Tuesday's Elections

Thanks ASPCA

In California, the factory farm-related Standards for Confining Farm Animals Act (ballot Proposition 2) won in a landslide, with over 60 percent of respondents voting “yes” to mandate an increase of confinement space for veal calves, breeding pigs and egg-laying hens. On the Act’s effective date, January 1, 2015, these animals will have their rights to turn around, lie down, stand up and fully extend their limbs guaranteed by state law. Violators will face a fine up to $1,000 or six months in county jail.

The Massachusetts ban on dog racing has been a long time coming—in 2000, a similar ballot measure was narrowly defeated, and attempts to get the question included on the 2006 ballot were unsuccessful. With the ban’s passage this week (57 percent to 43 percent), commercial dog racing will be phased out in Massachusetts by 2010. There are two dog tracks in the state—each of which is believed to currently house about 1,000 greyhounds. Because the phase-out will occur over a period of 14 months, greyhound advocacy groups such as Grey2K USA are confident that they will be able to find homes for any racing dogs who become available for adoption.

I'm glad to see that both these acts passed. Many Greyhound racers are notorious for their mistreatment of their racing animals, and no matter what farmers say in California, this new law cannot and will not hurt their business. Even though these livestock are bred for food purposes, they still deserve fair and humane treatment. Here's a big thank you to both California and Massachusetts residents for their votes. Change begins locally, then moves globally.

Hemingway's cats can stay

Cats can stay at Hemingway's home

Yet again good old common sense beats out government bullshit again. This decision makes me happy because I'm the proud papa of a six toed cat myself (Jack). The museum has spent more than $250,000 for lawyers and the fence and continues to question the need for the permit. I'm not sure why the government feels the need to "fuck" with people, but I'm glad that the six toes get to stay. They are descended from Hemingway's cat Snowball. Congrats to the staff of Hemingway's home.

These Ads Enrage Me

Will trade NKC registered American Bulldog pup-4 months old (Seymour)

2008-09-21, 10:22AM EDT

Will trade for good flat screen moniter or small flat screen tv. Also may trade for good condition kitchen table and chairs. Only to good, approved home. Will consider other trades as well. I have one female and one male.

Goddamn these ads piss me off. These fucking breeders treat animals as nothing more than property instead of the living breathing creatures they are. I wouldn't trade any of my cats for anything. Goddamned Ignorant Bastards. I wish something could be done to stop this backyard breeding bullshit.

A serious post (for a change)

I know I like to cut up and joke around and this blog alot, but let's get serious for a second. Every year in this country, millions of animals are killed in shelters because there are simply no homes for them and shelters are filled to capacity. What can you do to stop the killng? It's a really simple solution. Spay and Neuter your pets. I know I sound a bit "Bob Barker"-esque, but it's true. Pets who can't have offspring can't have those same offspring show up in a shelter to die needlessly because there's no home for them. I've added a banner on the right for the ASPCA. Go there, and find out how you can help out. I have cats and feed the feral cats in my neighborhood and I'm a proud donator to the ASPCA. Frankly, it's one of the best things I've ever done in my life.
