Derek Dooley hired as UT Head Coach

Sorry for not posting my opinion on this earlier, but I've tried to take a little bit of time and let the disappointment settle in so I don't rage on the blog and type up a large amount of dirty words.  For the Record, I'm not one bit happy with this hire and it stinks of desperation on Mike Hamilton's part.  You've taken what is in my opinion, a bad coach, from a bad conference to helm one of what used to be one of the  premiere teams in the SEC.  Derek Dooley doesn't overwhelm anyone in a conference with Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Les Miles, and other big names.  How in the world is Dooley going to compete with those guys?  I'd have been more happy had Hamilton let Kippy take over the program, see what he does in the fall, and if he fell flat, then bring in a big time coach after the 2010 season.  I can understand a Derek Dooley being hired at Vanderbilt or Kentucky, but not at Tennessee.  We have more than enough money to have lured someone bigger in after the 2010 season.  Let's face it, when it comes to National Signing Day in a few weeks, we were screwed anyways, so why not let Kippy see who he could salvage and bring in?  The only silver lining to this cloud of unhappiness on my part is that at least Hamilton may lose his job over this hiring, and I truly hope that happens.  Short of Bruce Pearl, Hamilton has had misstep after misstep with the hiring of Kiffin, the inexpensive buyout, the firing of Delmonico, and the hiring of Todd Raleigh as baseball coach.  The only program at Tennessee that is succeeding is the basketball program and I'd guess that Peal will be gone soon enough.  For the first time in a long time, it's not great to be a Tennessee Volunteer.  In fact it's miserable to be a Vol fan.  I've read all the "let's get behind the new coach" baloney all over the internet last night and today, and I'm sorry to say I'll be waiting on the sidelines to see what happens.  I'm just not happy today about any of it.  And with this post, happily, UT Football coverage on the blog will go back to a minimum.

Thanks Jim. I'm still not sure what we have but the article did make me feel a bit better.
