I got a nice ITunes gift card for my birthday and rather than spend it on music or apps, I decided to add to my collection of the Ricky Gervais Show. Ashley and I saw "The Invention of Lying" starring Ricky Gervais and it was brilliant which put the show back into my mind. I'll offer just a quick review for the movie. The premise is that no one in the world can tell a lie. Even deceptive TV commercials aren't deceptive anymore which is proven by the brilliant Coke and Pepsi ads contained in the movie. Ricky Gervais is the first person ever to tell a lie and it's a story of how he uses it to his advantage to get money, come up with the "Man in the sky" story, and uses it to find love with Jennifer Garner. I wouldn't recommend buying it when it comes out on DVD, but at least give it a rent as it's an interesting take on society. Anyways, back to the Ricky Gervais show.
For those who don't know, the Ricky Gervais show stars Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant (the creators of the Office, Extras, and the American version of the Office), and the man with a head like a blanking orange Karl Pilkington. I picked up most all of the series as well as the individual hour long series. These are nothing short of brilliant. I had forgotten how funny the first series was and just how funny Karl Pilkington is without trying to be funny. These are pretty cheap on ITunes for the enjoyment they provide. They're well worth the money and I'd recommend them to anyone. At the very least, pick up one of the shorter hour long versions and give them a listen.
