As most of my regular readers know, I've become a huge fan of 24 over the last few months and naturally began to look for 24 Related podcasts. After much trial and error, I settled on one 24 related podcast, that being the 24 UK Podcast hosted by Trig and Jamie which I consider not only to be the best 24 related podcast on the net, but one of the best podcasts period. Trig and Jamie do an incredibly informative and entertaining wrapup of each episode of 24 mixing in a good bit of facts, off the wall headlines, humor, and a healthy discussion of alcoholic beverages. In addition to wrapping up each hour of 24, Trig and Jamie also regularly interview both cast members and crew of FOX's hit show and plan to do even more interviews before Jack an company head to NYC. I simply cannot recommend the podcast enough and was fortunate to be able to interview the guys about the history of the podcast, 24, and where they think the show is headed. You can subscribe to the Podcast on ITunes here.
A big warning to any viewers from overseas, I've already watched the American finale of 24 so please tread lightly around the other areas of my website as there are spoilers for the finale.
1. How did you two guys meet and how was the both podcast and website developed?
We both went to the same school & college so we have been friends for many years. The idea of the podcast was created one drunken night at Trig's house. After chatting about 24 for many hours, much to our wifes dismay, Trig under the influence of a large quantity of alcohol suggested the idea of a creating a podcast. The next morning we both got together and recorded our pilot episode, I think you'll all agree we have come along way.

The website is still in its infancy and was thrown together just before the start of Season 7 to coincide with our national radio appearance in the UK. Jamie & his brother designed and built the website in 2 nights, and the forum was added a few weeks later. Over the summer we will add & change a few things on the website but overall we are pretty happy with it, and the forum has been a huge success.
2. Favorite Season of 24?
Trig: Season 6, I know critically it got some stick, but for some reason it always sticks in my mind as the best, I know it had its weak points but it had some great moments (episode 17 & Morris torture scene), maybe because it was the first season we did the podcast. Season 7 is right up there though & we have yet to see how it concludes!
Jamie: Season 5 for me. I remember watching it on dvd & I just couldn't put it down, the whole President conspiracy plot, Palmer, Tony & Michelle dying. I just think the supporting cast with the likes of Gregory Itzin & Jean Smart was some of the best ever seen on our screen. However I have said that if Season 7 continues on its current path I may be forced to change my mind, it all hinges on the Season finale!
3. Do you guys tape right after the show is complete?
Yes we start recording about 30 minutes after the show, we don't script it, it's all off the cuff. On the very rare occasion that one of us isn't available on the Monday night we release the podcast slightly later in the week, but I think that's happened 3 times since we have been recording.
4. The podcast is very well produced and is one of the best on the net, how much time is spent editing and adding in the various audio drops?
I think a big reason why the podcast sounds so well produced is because of Guy Harris who is a professional voiceover artist. The production on his voiceovers for the show are nothing short of outstanding and we are very lucky to have him on board!
Editing times vary for each show, however generally it doesn't take too long. We have a template that hosts various different audio tracks which we record straight on to and it's just a matter of moving around the various sound clips and background music to fit what we record. I'd say the first one of each season take a few hours & in season if we haven't added any new features it's about 2 hours.
5. The podcast is noted for great interviews. Describe the process for getting these interviews
In a nutshell, phone, email, phone, email, and keep phoning their agents, publicists, and managers in the hope they will take a look at the request and pass it on to their client. We think persistence is the key, however appearing on national radio in the UK and having the podcast & previous cast interviews for them to listen back certainly helps. Sean Callery even phoned Gregory Itzin to ask how his interview went before agreeing to come on our show.
6. What has been your favorite interview thus far ?(mine was James Morrison by far)
Our favourite interview? That really isn't easy to answer because they've all been great. I think we have favouirte bits from each interview, Gregory Itzin was very special because it was our first and he was such great fun. Jayne Atkinson was fantastic, James Morrison even sent us a signed photograph, Carlos Benard talking about his practical jokes, Carlo Rota getting lost while on the phone to us, Sean Callery playing music from the studio he scores 24.
Every single person we have interviewed has been so nice and we can't thank them enough, we are really looking forward to chatting with Jon Cassar and getting his thoughts on Season 7 & any interesting off set stories.
7. Did the long layoff between seasons 6 and 7 hurt both the podcast and the website?
The writers strike didn't affect the website because it wasn't created until just before the start of season 7, it certainly didn't help the podcast. We probably lost a few listeners but we would like to think they have all come back. Obviously this season things have got much bigger and I think we have improved the review show and the interviews have certainly helped spread the word.
8. How do you think Season 7 will end?
Well as we type this the UK has yet to see the season finale so it would be a good time to make a few predictions.
The 'company' that are behind the plot will probably continue into season 8.
It doesn't look good for Tony, we can't see him surviving the wrath of the Bauer after being involved in the kidnapping of Kim.
Ethan will probably be the chief of staff for Season 8, Olivia certainly won't be!
Will Jack get cured? Yes Treatment will begin from Kim's stem cells at the end of episode 24 or just after.
9. Do you feel that there will be a dropoff for Season 8 due to losing both Jon Cassar and Joseph Hodges?
A lot of our listeners have voiced their concerns and this is something we will be asking Jon Cassar in the next couple of weeks. They certainly both played a massive part in the production of 24, and every person we have spoken to has always spoken very highly about Jon Cassar.
It will be a loss however it certainly takes more than just 2 people to make the show successful, Sean Callery seems to think Season 8 is going to be great and we can't believe Kiefer would make another Season unless the right people are on board. So we are optimistic about Season 8.
10.What is a fitting end to "24" in your opinion?
A fitting end? Well it's going to go one of two ways, Jack finds peace or Jack dies. Kiefer has always said that Jack should die so it's certainly a possibility.
Trig: I don't mind him dying at all, but when he does I want it to be the biggest frickin funeral known to man, with every single President, JCoS, White House CoS etc. that he has every served under, there, crying at the foot of his epic coffin.
The final episode of S8 (or whenever) basically needs to be thanks being paid (finally) to the legend himself.
Jamie: Personally if he dies I think it should be his choice, it needs to be a situation where when he goes in he knows there is no way out. And I echo Trigs thoughts above. However I'm not sure there has to be a bad ending for Jack just for the sake of it, why can't he find peace with his family. This way they can always bring him back for movies!!

Again a huge thanks to Trig and Jamie for the interview and most importantly, thanks for producing one of the single best podcasts on the net.
