After reading about Southland on Twitter, I decided to give it a shot considering how much I enjoyed the last L.A. Cop Show I watched (The Shield). I watched the first two episodes on NBC's website and DVR'ed the one that airs tonight. I have to say I'm kind of on the fence on the show thus far, but I will keep watching it. It's a bit more raw than other cop dramas I've seen, but it just seems that the stories are a mess. There seems to be too many characters (that could be chalked up to it being a new series) and the characters thus far just don't seem that interesting. The second episode was much better than the first and I'm hopeful that the third clinches it for me as a keeper. Give it a watch if you have any interest in cop dramas.
