I just finished the second series of Life on Mars not 10 minutes ago and was as impressed with it as the first series. The ending was so much better than the American version and I'd highly recommend anyone who watched the American Version to order the DVDs from amazon uk and give it a look. It truly was a fantastic series and I'm thinking about getting the first season of Ashes to Ashes from the British ITunes store to watch.
I was not as impressed with Sam Tyler's character in the British version. He was very moody and pouty and just not very likeable for me until the last 10 minutes of the series. The best actor bar none was Philip Glenister (Lt. Gene Hunt). What an amazing actor and as much as it pains me to say it, he was 10x better than Harvey Keitel in the same role in the US version. I love Harvey as an actor, but Glenister nailed the part. I did a bit of reading and I'm so pleased that he's in Ashes to Ashes reprising the role.
I won't spoil the ending for anyone who might have some interest in picking up the show, but suffice to say it's a much more reasonable, sweet ending than the US version and didn't leave me with as many questions at the end. Just a fantastic series and a must watch for any television fan.
Digg me!!!
