Ashes to Ashes Series 1 Review

I just finished up Ashes to Ashes and it was almost as good as Life on Mars (the UK version of course).  I won't spoil anything here but as I've said countless times before, if you have the chance to catch this one on DVD or on BBC/BBC America then do so.  I recommend watching Life on Mars or at least reading up on it before viewing Ashes to Ashes since some of the story and most all of the characters are from that series.  The new series starts Monday on BBC in the UK and sometime later in the US.  This will be the second of three series of Ashes to Ashes and I'm curious to see how Alex and the Gene Genie's relationship changes once she saw him in a different light at the end of the first series.  I know from reading online that Phillip Glenister has said that Ashes to Ashes would be his last go-around as Gene Hunt, but damn I'd love to see a 90's version as well as a current version.  He's got to be still kicking around some police station in the UK, and probably even more crochety than before.
